Anushka Sharma is a model and actress in the Bollywood film industry. In 2008 she played the female lead role in the Bollywood film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi directed by Aditya Chopra who earlier directed hits like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995) and Mohabbatein (2000).Anushka Sharma was born to an army based family in Bangalore. Her father Col. Ajay Kumar Sharma is an army officer and her mother Ashima Sharma is a housewife. She has an elder brother named Karnesh who was a state-level cricketer and is now in the Merchant Navy. She studied in Army School and graduated with specialization in arts from Mount Carmel College Bangalore.Sharma says she originally wished to make it big in the modeling world but had no strong aspirations for films.She began her modeling career at the Lakme Fashion Week as a model for Wendell Rodrickss Les Vamps Show and was picked to be Rodrickss finale model at the Spring Summer 07 Collection. Since then she has done campaigns for Silk & Shine Whisper Nathella Jewelry and Fiat Palio.Her first acting role was in Aditya Chopras Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi which was a huge success. She currently has a contract to do two more movies with Yash Raj Films but is free to do films outside YRF to further her career if she wishes and has signed to do a movie with Shahid Kapoor in another Yash Raj Film to be directed by Parmeet Sethi.
