Koena Mitra was born on January 7th, in Calcutta. Mitra is of Bengali origin. Her father is a Business man and a Chartered Accountant and her mother is a teacher & interior designer. Mitra also has a younger sister.Koena Mitra attended South Point High School in Calcutta. She went to college at Lady Brabourne College in Calcutta. Mitra was trained with the Mamata Shankar ballet troupe for 12 years. She was a super model and has walked the ramp in places like Milan, Paris, New York etc.While in college, Mitra pursued a career in modeling. Over the years,Koena has done commercials like ACP Whisky, Mirinda, Clinic All Clear, Maruti Alto. She is the winner of Gladrag Mega Model 2002, this sultry and hot model from Calcutta is here to make it big. She took the modeling world by storm by winning the Supermodel title and later on went on to become the semi-finalist of Miss Intercontinental. Being a model she featured in quite a few music videos like Stereo Nation’s “Ishq”, “Aaj Ki Raat”, “Akh Teri”, “Channo” by JassiAnd after gaining all the technical knowledge and being absolutely comfortable in front of the camera, Koena made a smashing entry into Bollywood with a sizzling item number in Ram Gopal Verma’s ‘Road’. This was followed by a small role in Sanjay Gupta’s Musafir, which opened many doors to Bollywood. Her first movie as a lead actor was ‘Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena’ directed by Suparn Verma opposite Fardeen Khan. But the movie that got her all the attention she wanted in Bollywood was ‘Apna Sapna Money, Money’.
